Having Fun

Healthy Simplicity - Having Fun

The first half of July was spent preparing for a wedding in which three of my children were part of the wedding party, my husband officiated and I played the piano and acted as unofficial wedding co-ordinator. Now that that is behind us, I feel like our summer has really started, and we’re having lots of fun.

We’ve been to the park several times, had a picnic (with not enough food), participated weekly in our library’s summer reading club, done crafts (Frozen puppets and twig stars), read books, Daddy and the two youngest girls had a camping trip, enjoyed our garden (picked a huge bowl of beans tonight – even the baby helped). I haven’t taken a lot of pictures because I haven’t wanted to stress about needing pictures of everything. I just wanted to enjoy the time with my children.

For myself I’ve done sewing and scrapbooking which always makes me happy. My piano was fixed so I’ve enjoyed playing the piano. I’ve gone for lots of long walks. I’ve said “yes” more frequently and read more books to the children. Today we read “The ABC Bunny”. Then I played it on the piano for the children. Then we had to play it on YouTube. I also taught my pre-schooler “The Itsy-Bitsy Spider” with hand motions. He was so enchanted he wants to make sure we do it again tomorrow ~smile.

Soon we’re going to be planning an ice cream party for our church. We’ll invite everyone from the church to come over to our house on a Sunday night after church. That should be a lot of fun – all the flavours, all the toppings.

So I’m not posting as much as I had planned, but the children and I are having a fun summer. I hope you are too.

Don’t beat yourself up about the food at the park – when would you EVER have enough for them haha ;).
Typical that Noah is reading on a plaything :).

You know how it is – at home they eat almost next to nothing for lunch. Take them to a park and their appetite triples. 🙂 I’m reading a lot too. It’s a nice addiction. I’m sure Ethan would do that for you. 🙂
