Friday File 13

Healthy Simplicity - Friday File

I’ve been really busy this week getting our basement organized. Honestly, it was so bad that I didn’t even take a before picture to show you. Just trust me. Most of the time it looked like all the shelves and toy boxes and thrown up all over the floor.

My solution – I bought twenty-two file boxes and boxed up all of our books. Now every two to three weeks we’ll take a box of books out and those will be our books for the week. I designated an unused clothes hamper for all the dress-up clothes and baby blankets. I made a hammock out of a sheet I don’t use and all of the dolls and stuffed animals get thrown in there now. The toys are weeded down to fit in one very large Rubbermaid box. I rearranged where the girls’ dressers were. And voila! The basement is so much quieter and fun. Yes, it’s actually fun. The little ones have been having a blast playing down there now that the floor is actually clear, and everything can be put back in order in less than ten minutes. Peace in the basement, and a smile on my face.

I like keeping things simple, and this list is certainly a simple way to make your house looking cleaner and more organized with very little effort.

Did you know that this past week was Dr. Seuss’ birthday? Here are some free printables to go along with some of his books. Have fun.

I’d like to take two or three of these every week and work them into my life. The simpler life is, the happier I am.

Do you need a gift for a new little one? This receiving blanket is easy enough for even a beginning seamstress.

I think we can all agree that this has been a long, hard winter, and we’re all ready for spring. I’m getting excited about my garden. If you need some inspiration, maybe my Pinterest “Gardening” board can help.

At the beginning of this week I listened to this song, and it has been going through my head all week. I could listen to this couple sing all day. We have several of their CDs and are always blessed by their music. If you’re interested in buying some of their CDs they can be found here (This is totally unsolicited from them ☺).

I haven’t picked out a Pinterest project for this week because I was too busy with the basement. Neither did we get to the one I was hoping for last week. Micah and I are working on some lapbooks that I have pinned on my Pinterest “School” board – platypus and Ping.

Did you read anything interesting on the internet this week or accomplish any big projects?

So I’m assuming that the boxes have an assorted of genre and age groups? How’s it working?
I’ve been planning our garden the past few weeks. Em is going to start planting seeds in egg cartons and see how that goes. Apparently, we are behind in garden standards for OK ’cause here they start their gardens inside in Feb and then plant in March ;).

I actually didn’t sort them. Every time we open one it will be a surprise. Part of the fun?
You will have a longer growing season there. I hope it all works out for you.
