Friday File 16

Healthy Simplicity - Friday FileI haven’t posted much this week, because I’m busy making a baby gift for a friend’s little girl. It is so much fun to sew a tiny baby dress. Anyway, I found a few things that you might find interesting…

With eight children I can use all the help I can find to have some peace. Some days are quieter than others, but our household is usually a happening place with lots of noise. Having three boys under the age of seven will keep things on the noisy side. I liked this post about creating peace in your home. I totally agree with getting rid of clutter. Every time I send another box (or two or three) to the thrift store, I feel like my house is giving a little sigh of relief.

Creating A Peaceful Environment

Spring is coming soon, I hope. Tonight’s going to dip down to 14 degrees. Boo. When is it going to warm up and stay warm? Anyway, warm or not, I’m getting the urge to do some deep cleaning. I found this challenge to get me headed in the right direction.

30 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge – Week 1

This time of year you can start to feel tired of school and just ready for it to be over already. Here’s a great list to get you back on track to finishing the school year with a smile on your face.

A Homeschooling Mom, Overwhelmed

I like diy recipes for cleaning products. They’re usually cheaper and work just as well. Here’s one I found recently for fabric softener. I’m going to try it as soon as my fabric softener runs out.

DIY Fabric Softener

Something made me think of the Jimmy Stewart movie “Pot O’ Gold” and the song “A Knife, A Fork and A Spoon”. I love the old movies and the songs they did. The harmony in this song is great.

And just for a laugh…

  1. Thank you for sharing my overwhelmed list – I hope it encourages and blesses 🙂
I love stopping by your blog for a visit now and then, Jennifer, because you so often share just what I need to hear, or just what I’ve been thinking on myself. I’m checking out the decluttering and spring cleaning posts as I’m working on these things myself.
I love old movies too – and I have a copy of Pot o’ Gold! – what a fun song. My kids love it too. Have a fun and restful weekend!

I stop by your blog for the same reason. I’m hoping to watch “Pot O’ Gold” with my children soon. I know they’ll enjoy it.

I hate clutter and Pierre hates dirt so we go together well :). I always pick up the house throughout the day and esp on Saturday and Sunday morning before we leave for church things – nice to come home to a clean house.
I have not bothered with spring cleaning the last few years – one due to moving and two – I have the husband that has us do “spring cleaning” chores all year :). It works and little by little feels like a lot less 😉
I need to watch that movie Pot Of Gold again!

I’m trying to teach my children that nice feeling of coming home to a clean house. They’re slowly getting it. 🙂
