I’ve seen a lot of pretty and unique Pinterest board covers and thought I’d try making some for myself. My first attempt didn’t turn out too well. Then I realized I was making it too hard. With my Panstoria Artisan digital scrapbooking software and PicMonkey it’s actually very easy. I’m going to give you a tutorial today on how to easily make pretty Pinterest board covers.
First I designed the cover in my Panstoria Artisan digital scrapbooking software. This is what I came up with. The image for a Pinterest board cover is 217 x 147 pixels. I couldn’t use these dimensions in my program. I used approximately 5.3″ x 4″. You want to go as small as possible. If you make it too big the image won’t fit on your cover and you’ll lose some of it.
Now all I had to do was pick a font and type my title in. I noted the font and size so I could use the same on the rest of my boards. When I was happy, I saved this as a jpeg to a file on my computer. Do NOT close PicMonkey yet. You’re going to use this picture over and over for all of your covers.
Now I could take this file and upload it to my Pinterest board. To do this go to the board that you want to upload your file to. In the top left corner there is a box that says “Add a pin”. Click on this.
You will be given two choices – from the web or from your device. Choose your devise. Then click on the red “Choose Image” button. You will then be able to browse your computer’s files for the image you saved. Click on the image and open it. It will now be a pin on your board.
Next go back to the main page where all your boards are listed. Find the board you want to update the cover on and click the “Edit” button. There will be a “Change Cover” option. Click on that and scroll through your pins until you find the cover you just made. It will likely be the first one, but just in case you got distracted and did some pinning before changing your cover just click through – it will be there.
Now go back to PicMonkey. Highlight your text and change to your next title, save this new one and go through the whole uploading and changing the cover on your board process.
Let me know if you try this because I enjoy looking at the covers people come up with for their Pinterest boards.
