Last week I showed you the fleece quilt that I’ve been helping my two youngest daughters to sew. This week I can show you the finished product.
I bought a piece of fleece off the clearance table. I knew it wouldn’t be big enough, but I was sure that we could handle that.
We laid the quilt top down on the floor and then laid the fleece on it. We decided that we could cut it in half the long way and then add some squares to make it big enough.
This is the final pattern that we found worked.
Next made a binding, and I sewed it on. I did the machine sewing first on one side. I was going to have the girls practice hand sewing by sewing it down on the other side but discovered that I enjoyed hand sewing too much to let my daughters do this. I’ll have to get over that so they can learn – later.
It’s already seeing lots of use. It’s super soft and heavy so it feels comforting to cuddle up under in the morning when you just can’t wake up…
or you want to cuddle with your sister…
It’s also good when you’re feeling in a photo bombing mood.
We have lots of squares left so we plan on making another fleece quilt but in a different style.
Have we inspired you to make a quilt?
