My daughter, in honour of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s birthday, is running a full week of posts on her blog all about Montgomery and the books she wrote. She wrote this tag, and I thought it would be fun to participate in it. Her week of fun also includes a gorgeous Anne print that she’s giving away.
How did you first discover LMM’s books?
The best that I can remember is that after we moved to Canada when I was eleven, I discovered them at the library. I truly feel like I’ve known Anne all of my life.
What’s your favorite LMM book?
Later on this week, I’ll be giving a more detailed answer to this in a guest post on my daughter’s blog. For now the short answer is – The Blue Castle. You really need to read this review of the book.
What’s your least favorite LMM book?
This is a tough one. I guess I would say The Tangled Web. I found it really hard to get into. It took A LOT of perseverance before it became interesting to me.
Who is your favorite character in allllll of LMM’s works?
This is another tough one. There are just so many good characters. I’m going to go with Anne. There are tons of main and secondary characters that I love in all of LMM’s books, but Anne is the one I first loved so I think she will always be my favourite.
What couple is your favorite?
This one is easy. You see, I have this thing – I’m a sucker for stories where a couple get married before they love each other. I love watching them fall in love in their marriage. So Valancy and Barney are my hands-down favourite couple (and no I don’t mind his name).
What is your favorite quote from LMM (either a quote from one of her books, or from her personal life)?
Can I have two?
“Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?”
“True friends are always together in spirit.”
How many LMM books have you read?
This is just a guess. I’d say about 15 of the novels – Anne series, the Pat books, Kilmeny, Jane, Story Girl, Tangled Web, The Blue Castle, plus several of her collected short stories.
Which LMM book would you most like to see made into a movie?
Please, please, please somebody make The Blue Castle, but only if you know what you’re doing. This is one story I don’t want messed with.
Have you found a kindred spirit?
Oh yes, and I’ve had a blast visiting with her all this week which is why I haven’t been posting this week.
I’ve never done a tag before. This was fun, and I hope I can do another soon.
What would your answers be?
